Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
2 year Course

Is this the right course for me?

Our Level 5 course teaches an integrative counselling model and emphasises a person-centre framework to develop the counselling relationship. In year 2, a wider range of counselling theories are introduced to develop each student’s own integrative counselling model.

The course considers different counselling approaches from both Christian and secular viewpoints. Sessions start with a spiritual reflection.

This course meets all the National Level 5 Diploma standards and criteria requirements, and is therefore suitable for both Christian and Secular counsellor training.

The training includes practical sessions comprising group work and peer and triad counselling.

Some of the Topics Covered Include:

  • Contracting and Confidentiality
  • Difference and Diversity
  • Working towards an Integrative Model
  • Evidence-Based Practice
  • Brief Therapy
  • Psychodynamic Insight
  • Research
  • Supervision

You will consolidate the above by completing assignments, and you will also be offered a placement at TLC which is a BACP accredited counselling service centre.

To join the course you will need to have completed a minimum 150 hours of training on a Certificate in Counselling Level 3 course, or equivalent. You will also need to commit to take on personal development, group supervision, 1 to 1 supervision, personal therapy and clinical practice.
