Contributing towards the cost of your counselling
Cedar Tree Counselling Service is part of The Tree of Life Centre. We are an independent service that is not part of the NHS. Like six out 10 of those we help, you may have been ‘signposted’ to us through your GP, the NHS or another health professional. These services make no financial contribution to the costs of your counselling. We rely on your contributions to continue to provide our services. We receive no funding from Government agencies or Kirklees Council.
We therefore ask you to pay whatever you can afford for each counselling session. All our counsellors are volunteers, but there are administrative costs to run the service and of course, the costs of running and maintaining the building. It costs us £2,588 per week (£518 each day we open) to keep the charity going.
Our well-trained counsellors provide professional and effective therapy; 85% of clients who complete counselling with us achieve improvement. Almost two thirds (64%) demonstrate reliable improvement and over half achieve recovery. Private counselling locally would cost you anywhere from £45-£80.
We ask that you to make an honest assessment and contribute as much as you can towards your counselling sessions. We want to provide an affordable service, however, as a guide we would suggest a contribution of £10 per £10,000 of annual household income (not just your own personal income) per session so that we can continue to offer this much-needed service in the face of increasing costs for energy, business rates and the wages of our small team of administrators. As a charity, our CEO, directors, trustees and counsellors are all unpaid volunteers.
Suggested contribution, based on combined household income
- Income of £15,000 per year – £15 per session
- Income of £25,000 per year – £25 per session
- Income of £40,000 per year – £40 per session … and so on
We would encourage those on benefits or those receiving only state pension to use the guide above or contribute a minimum of £10 per session, whichever is the higher amount. This will enable us to continue to offer our service to a wide range of clients at an affordable rate. We regret that at this time, £10 is the minimum contribution we can accept if our charity is to continue to run.
