Extract – "The project team members have been actively involved in a very developmental project, which has required innovative approaches in response to new developments in policy and practice within ABE at a NI and UK wide level. These emerging developments will eventually impact on all aspects of Basic Skills and will include new standards, curriculum and assessment strategies and eventually new qualifications for practitioners.

The work completed in this initial project year has provided the team with an excellent foundation for moving forward to phase II (September 2001 – June 2002), in supporting ABE tutors both full-time, part-time and volunteers, as the impact of government strategy evolves."
